Should You Make Your Kids Root for Your Team?

Covino & Rich are holding down the fort for DP and the Danettes this morning and they are focused on the next generation of sports fans and how much influence their parents should have on their team loyalties. Rich, a die-hard Mets fan, shares his concern that his 7-year-old daughter may become a Dodgers fan after she saw Shohei Ohtani launch a homerun last night at Dodger Stadium.

Rich Davis: "My daughter goes to the Dodgers game last night with her little girlfriends, her little gal-pals. My daughter's 7 and one of the moms is like, 'We're taking the girls 'cause it's Hello Kitty night,' and I was like, 'Yeah, you can bring my daughter. Thank you for the invite.' My daughter comes home last night with a Hello Kitty Dodgers stuffie, a Dodgers hat and a little helmet, and she's like, 'Dad, I think I like the Dodgers but, I mean, I'll root for the Mets if they play each other.' And I'm like, 'Aw, she's just saying that because she doesn't want to crush me.'"

Steve Covino: "It's kind of your job to be like, 'Remember, we root for the Mets.' If they make their own decisions and she becomes a Dodgers fan, you know, that's fine, they're going to make their own decisions, but you still have to do your part! That's my point...You can't be so willy-nilly..."
