The NFL has levied a 3-game suspension on Houston Texans LB Azeez Al-Shaair for his illegal hit on Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence and, while he thinks it is probably and appropriate length, Doug Gottlieb wonders why this is the first time we’ve seen discipline this harsh for this type of hit.
Doug Gottlieb: “Maybe this is the right punishment but this punishment hasn’t been levied to other guys who’ve had the exact same crime...the issue is, how come there hasn’t been another 3-game suspension previous to this for the exact same crime or penalty, which has been perpetrated by 100 different NFL players?”
